This repo is really a template for using distgen to create container images. While distgen is very useful tool, I do not think it is necessary to use it under all circumstances. I therefore propose to rename this repo to distgen-template in order to reflect the fact it is opinionated towards distgen.
distgen-template
The README also mentions the image-build-tools container. I propose to move that repo under the same org as this one, and rename it to something along the lines of distgen-sdk.
distgen-sdk
The readme should then be updated with new, correct links after the fact.
RFC.
I'm actually not sure how usable dist-gen is for Fedora only. Anyone can provide some feedback?
It was usable when we needed one template for Fedora and Red Hat container images, but Fedora only seems like an overkill to me.
Please share your opinion: I vote for dropping dist-gen from the template repo, ti will be much easier for newcomers especially.

I have opened a tangential proposal in the SIG: https://pagure.io/ContainerSIG/container-sig/issue/21
My intent is to use the container-best-practices repo as the canonical location for all documentation, integrating and replacing section 1.2 of the Container Guidelines Wiki. (Reasoning: As Container SIG we should really be in control of that doc; The projectatomic org is more or less being dissolved; One canonical source of truth is more easily maintainable.) This is to be discussed in next Monday's SIG meeting.
Therefore I am not sure how practical a dedicated image-template repo is anymore. I'd propose to have the image template live in the best-container-practices repo alongisde all the other info needed to create a Fedora guideline compliant image.
