Steps to reproduce the problem (Fedora 32 Workstation, Gnome 3.36 on Xorg):
1) set the custom opacity value (https://imgur.com/a/eLzqihL)
2) reload Gnome (Alt+F2, r) or wait for the screenlock and go back - you can see that opacity has changed, although the value of the parameter has remained the same (https://imgur.com/a/G0wzgh1)
