I suspect that this relates to some automation that was build around on container images.

@pingou and I had an offline chat. Context was provided.
Gitlab Runners are spawn on EC2 spot instances.
Leo's testing efforts require EC2 instances as well.
Does that answer your questions?

no but I guess I'll try to discuss with @pingou.
reminder that centos ci provides ec2 instances and so trying to understand why it would deviate from what we officially deployed for SIGs (and described on https://sigs.centos.org/guide/ci/)

update status : @lmilbaum and myself had an interesting discussion about context and follow-up will happen for a bigger picture and see how we can (re)implement/migrate this to CPE team for gitlab runners

Given the elapsed time and not having more context around the request out of band or in ticket I'm going to close this issue. If this is still a community need please reopen with additional context around community specific use, expected load, etc... Thanks!
