One of the vagrant images I've been using apparently has firewall on by default. Need to get that fixed as we have had a longstanding policy to not have a firewall on when booting in clouds because the cloud services typically provide methods for managing access (security groups, etc) .

seems to not be a problem any more. tested on last nights vagrant image link

Not sure what happened, but closing this for now.
