FUDcon Blacksburg T-shirt design request.
FUDCon Blacksgurg 2012: t-shirt design mockup1 fudcon-na12.svg
I just uploaded a, svg source for a quick design. Ben is still working on pricings so if anyone has more ideas pls feel free to add more designs to this trac. Logos can be found on Ian's ticket #190

Note there is an error in the logos that Ian's in the process of correcting. The dark-background version of the FUDcon logo should use only the light color blue, and it's currently using the dark-colored one.
Traditionally we've used landmarks or cultural symbols of FUDcon's host cities/towns in the design our FUDcon T-shirts. Some suggestions for potential design elements:
Virginia Tech, according to Wikipedia, is a main point-of-interest in Blacksburg. It might be worth researching if there are particularly distinctive buildings or landmarks on campus that may make an interesting design element. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Polytechnic_Institute_and_State_University#Campus
The 'Hokie' - the mascot of Virginia Tech - might make an interesting subject? It's a type of turkey... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hokie_Bird
Some kind of cultural symbol related to the area's history might be interesting. For example, the traditional artwork Emily designed for the FUDcon Tempe shirt. This will take a bit of research. An initial look into the Blacksburg wiki page suggests a technologically-sophisticated town. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blacksburg,_Virginia

One reason Blacksburg is fairly tech heavy, in an area where that might otherwise be unusual, is that Virginia Tech is the state's largest school of engineering and applied science (including CS of course). So these two points definitely go hand in hand.
