gopenvpn is a GUI front-end to OpenVPN. It's an alternative to NetworkManager's OpenVPN plug-in. gopenvpn has a lot of features which makes its usage more appropriate for advanced users. OpenVPN is an open source VPN implementation, providing secure and encrypted connections between computers and networks.
I've recently taken over the maintenance and development of gopenvpn, and I see the icons need a refresh. Currently only the system-tray icons are present, which are tiny. Could probably also need a proper application icon as well.
For more info: http://gopenvpn.sourceforge.net/
The official OpenVPN logo can be found here: http://openvpn.net/index.php/miscellaneous/473-openvpn-logos-and-icons.html
I don't mean that we need to use the official logos, but maybe that can be some kind of inspiration. However, having some kind of link to OpenVPN wouldn't be a bad thing, though.
I can make some icon if you still need it, please reply.

Yes, that would be absolutely wonderful!
Thanks a lot!
If I am not wrong you want to refresh this icon. gopenvpn.png

Sorry for the slow response! (for some reason, I seem to not have received quite some trac update notifications since my last comment)
There are at least 3 icons, the green, yellow and red ones. But they basically look the same as the green one you found (gopenvpn.png).
It would be great if it would be something which would make a mental connection to the official OpenVPN logo. But it probably shouldn't be completely identical, as this is not an official GUI for OpenVPN on Linux.
I like the "drawing.png", as that's somewhat closer. But if it could be somewhat "network inspired", it would probably fit even better. The "u3.png" feels more like a package-manager thing to me.
But lets think about those three colours. When gopenvpn is idle (no connections are made), it is today a red icon in the notification panel. When it is connecting, a yellow (blinking! ugh!) icon appears instead. And on successful connection, it's a green icon. So to have this kind of signalling effect would really be great and more user friendly. I would probably prefer something else than a blinking icon, tbh.
And in addition, a program icon is needed as well. Of course one of the three others can be reused, unless they are too connection centric. But feel free to knock yourself out on this one :)
If I'm not responding for a while again, please feel free to grab me on #openvpn, #openvpn-devel or #fedora-devel on FreeNode ... I'm dazo there.

I like it! It's definitely a step in the right direction. Would it be possible to make the 'V' a little bit clearer? F.ex. adding some blue lines along three of the four lower arches?
You know got something like this: {{{ ......... (. is the arches) ..... ... . }}}
And I'm suggesting something like this ... {{{ ......... ...../ .../ v }}}
(if you can follow my ascii art thoughts)
sure , i can do that :)

I have created [https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/attachment/ticket/223/vpn3.png vpn3.png] according to what you said , and updated [https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/attachment/ticket/223/vpn2.2.png| vpn2.png] ... Please have a look and share you view
Yeah ... this looks interesting indeed!
Could you try not to connect with the top most arch? And maybe slightly thicker lines on the sides?

Thanks a lot! That looks great to me! :) If you can prepare that one suitable for application icon, and those with green, yellow and red outer-circles suitable for tray-icons, then we're basically ready :)
Thanks again for great work :)

shatandru has done a great job, and we're about to close off this ticket. We're just finalising some minor details for the tray icons. A big thanks to shatandru for his work!
