HyperKitty (https://fedorahosted.org/hyperkitty/) is an archiver for the next generation of Mailman (mailing list software), mailman 3.
The first alpha release was done few days ago but to be a grown-up software, it needs an icon.
It would be very nice if someone could find some time to work on this.
Thanks!

Hey, I'm Animesh, a GCI participant, and I'd like to work on this ticket.
I have submitted some proposals which I made in the last 2-3 hours after some brainstorming.
I can't claim the task yet, as my previous PHP task is still under review by bckurera, but it would be nice if you could mark it as reserved (some organisations have done this when students closed bug tickets or edited wiki pages outside of the Melange website before claiming it)
Hope you like my work :)
Here are the inline previews of the proposals so far:

3, 4 and 5 are definitively the way to go!
I think I like 4 the best at the moment.
5 is a nice idea, but the light blue doesn't look so good on the cat, maybe another color ? The dark blue on the envelop might be ok (we need to see how it looks with the white/other color cat)
6 and 7 are a nice improvement over 2 (amazing what two eyes can do ;-)) but I think I like the cat from 3,4,5 better.
If Aurélien agrees, I would play around with 4 and 5 to see where we end.
Modification of #4 with the color of #7 as suggested by pingou Submission_10_new.png
White kitten on #7 (suggested, playing around w/ some diff color combinations and kitten+envelope combinations) Submission_11_new.png
(A try at a new design, used the silhouette of a cat on the envelope design to represent HyperKitty) Submission_12_new.png
Suggested, added the OC white kitten on the #7 envelope Submission_13_new.png
Hey, added some more variations to the list. Will be adding a couple more soon. Hope this will give you some variety to choose from
Yes, number 4 is my favorite too! Good job!
Do you think you could normalize / vectorize the kitty a little bit ? I'm thinking by using Bezier curves or something like that, but you're the expert. At the end the logo should be in SVG format anyway, so you'd be better off importing it into Inkscape sooner than later.
Thanks for your submissions!
Here's the svg file :) Submission_Final_HyperKitty.svg
Sorry but I think there's still some work to do: - there's something strange at the bottom of the cat's chin, when you zoom in inkscape it becomes obvious. Looks a bit like a small beard with two spikes on the side - the kerning (space between letters) on the text is wrong. For example the "Y" of Hyper looks much closer to the "H" than to the "P". - could you pick something a bit more fun for the font ?
Thanks.
Fixed the errors and tried a few interesting typefaces Typefaces & Fixes.zip
Hey, sorry for closing the task early, I was just playing around with the settings and did it by mistake. I've corrected the errors and added a few interesting typefaces. Have a look :)
Typefaces with embedded fonts Typefaces & Fixes_embeddedfonts.zip
Looks like it didn't work, I still can't see the fonts. IIRC the command is in the Path menu, and it's called "Object to path".
Also, the cat still looks very "hand-drawn", maybe you could use the "Simplify" tool in the "Path" menu. It usually help when importing from bitmaps.

I think this looks pretty good.
I think I would go for: n°5, n°6 or n°1
As for the GCI task, I think you did great and if Aurélien agrees, I think this is a: pass :)
I personally liked n°4 the most, but n°6 is nice too. Anyway, it's clearly a '''pass''', thanks for your work !
