Hi,
I haven't found any media artwork for Fedora 23 (correct me if I'm wrong). We'd like to produce Fedora 23 Workstation DVDs and we need an artwork for that, it's kinda urgent.

Is this artwork EMEA specific? All files are named after EMEA, though I did not see any mention of EMEA in the sleeve/DVD images. If it is specific to EMEA, we need similar ones for APAC too.

Thank you.

Which media(.iso) file do we use for these alternative desktop DVDs ?

It looks like a Live workstation with multiple desktops bundled together. Is that right?

Thank you.

Hi,

I shared these files with a DVD vendor here, they need the artwork files to be in Corel Draw(.cdr) or PhotoShop or .ai format. They could not work with the '.pdf' files.

Could you please provide those at the earliest please?

Thank you.

We are looking for more generic sleeve designs with no variant name(ex workstation) on it.
Just 'Fedora 23' would be good.

Could you please provide such a design for the DVD sleeves?

Thank you.

I answer that all in one:

  1. they are called EMEA as it is the only region who brings the needed bleed value
  2. ai isnt different that much from pdf or eps, the extra lines in the code are not needed for print as just keeping information that is needed from AI itself. They shall print it not "work" on it and if the vendor would have a little bit knowledge about his job he would see there are targets, bleed and marks in the pdf so its printing ready. If he needs more bleed he might tell you how much he needs but he will not add it by himself.
  3. There is a clear NO for this, we have 3 flavors since Fedora21 and that is the workstation, if you want produce Cloud or Server (what makes no sense) you get the sleeves for that. But there is no one for all anymore and it is btw task for the Ambassadors to communicate that to the public!

Bleed value?

IIUC, the issue is that he could not open the files(.pdf, .sla) with the tools/applications he has.
I myself tried to open the given .sla.gz files in Gimp & Scribus to convert them to .eps. But Gimp could not read it and Scribus threw errors about missing fonts and could not render the images well. It's not about knowing ones job, it's about having tools to work with the given file formats.

I see, okay. Let's refrain from deciding what makes sense and what doesn't.

Thank you.

no its about knowing his job and the tools. Scribus renders the pictures just fine but as we speeking about high resolution printing pictures, it saves some memory in the real time rendering through giving a lower resolution. And for the fonts thats normal if you have them not installed but Scribus would render it anyway, that are just warnings
There is no printing machine who works directly with cdr or ai and for other purposes as doing changes he has not to open it. But he dont has to make changes at all!

It did not on my machine. After I clicked 'Okay' through the font warnings,
all Scribus showed was white background with few blotches of colours on it.
Besides I doubt if the vendor would be using Scribus.

Agreed. Even if he doe not have to change it, he should at least be able to open it and use it for the job.

also normal, you need the picture and have to adjust the path to it

Thanks.

Nevermind, we are going to produce 64 bit workstation after all.
