#55 GSoC ribbon/badge for hackergotchi
Closed: Fixed Opened by quaid.

As we hit the mid-term point for the Google Summer of Code in Fedora, an idea came up of a simple way to draw attention to GSoC planet posts. By comparison, GNOME has this badge that appears under the hackergotchi of the student:

Another idea I like is a banner/ribbon that is mounted directly within the hackergotchi, such as this one for FUDCon:

And can we get Marketing to help us get the word out about these kind of cool tricks to show when people are involved in an important, short-lived Fedora event such as a FAD or FUDCon?

We may need some hackergotchi services if any of the GSoC students are stuck without one; I'll be sure to send them here for help. :)

quaid,

It seems this one was not picked up in time for the '09 summer of code, should this one be addressed (be it early) for the '10 summer of code?

FWIW, i did the original FUDCON ribbons, and the source SVG (and PNG's) are available on my fedorapeople:

this is for GSoC ribbon/badges for hackergotchi
we usually have badges for hackergotchi for events, summer of code, things like that
i think we should make this ticket instead to make a template for hackergotchi ribbons
so someone could install modata, open up the template, and make the badge say whatever they need

After discussing them on the mailing list I've published the hackergotchi ribbons on a wiki page and blogged about it on Planet Fedora.

Wiki page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Hackergotchi_ribbons
Blog post: http://jefsblog.wordpress.com/2010/07/04/introducing-hackergotchi-ribbons/

The wiki page contains the sources.

I think this is enough to close to ticket, but correct me if I'm wrong!
