** Purpose** The goal of Fedora Appreciation Week is to celebrate a week of appreciation for the contributors who help make Fedora what it is. We would like to have designs for running this activity.
Concept proposal:
Since this event is similar in spirit to the Fedora Happiness Packets app, I propose creating a logo / design / theme for Appreciation week that relates to the Happiness packets logo.
The Happiness Packets logo is a cupcake, which symbolizes a small gift / token / celebration of someone's work in Fedora.
For Appreciation week, it would be neat to extend that metaphor, since it's an event of sorts, into a full size (maybe multi tiered) cake.
@dhanesh95 I have a few questions for you on what you're looking for:

It would be cool to extend the metaphor!
for the facebook banner, do you mean a group cover or a message banner, or what? We need specifications, because it's not clear.
I think our preferred use will be a Facebook page cover banner. From what I could find online, this is 851 x 315 pixels.
same for twitter, are you looking for a cover for a profile, or are you looking for a banner to be messaged out in a tweet?
For Twitter, both would be cool to have. For the profile cover, we could use it on the @fedora account and share it with anyone who wants to change their profile banner. For tweets, it would be good to tweet out timely reminders as Appreciation Week comes closer, so an image to share in a tweet is helpful.
@fedora
@jflory7 @dhanesh95 is there going to be a new fb group for this or an existing fedora group? (if so which one?)
@duffy The intent is to work on the Fedora Marketing team to update the official Facebook page cover image. Thinking about it, a Facebook page cover image is a lower priority and is not required. I'm unsure if people will change personal profile cover photos for things like this, like people often do for events on Twitter.
Just updated all the specs.
Hi team. Will be a brainstorming meeting to set all of the details? How many people will be involved? My idea: terra with all continents and a sound output from the words: " Fedora Appreciation Week" What do you think about this?
@mythcat I think commops has meetings about the event broadly, but we arent planning to have a big mtg about this in design. I did aasign @terezahl to look at this a few days ago and forgot to assogn kt to her here. I would wait to make sure there's no duplication of efforts,a
Hi @mythcat @duffy is it okay if I start working on the design?
Thanks for expanding these, @duffy! Let us know if we can do anything else to help.
@terezahl go ahead!
@duffy here's a design for the logo. I went for the cake idea. What do you think?
@terezahl I think the mark you've designed is fabulous, colors are perfect, style is very Fedora.
I think the type we can push a bit! "Appreciation Week" is so long and it's tkny compared to the Fedora logo as a result. What if you break "Appreciation Week" inti 2 lines (each aligned to 1 cake tier) and align a smallee Fedora logo to the candle vertically?
Something to consider too - since this is a Fedora contributor focused event - you could drop the "fedora" type and just use the symbol. maybe as a decoration on top instead of the candle?
In summary - illustration is great, let's push the text!
@duffy here are some other designs I came up with.
Metadata Update from @gnokii: - Issue close_status updated to: Fixed - Issue status updated to: Closed (was: Open)
I love the 2nd one @terezahl - if this event ends up happening again next year I would definitely recommen dusing that one.
Is the artwork finalized? I was unclear to me if there was an approved design. We still have a need for the logo. If they are final, I would like to add them to the CommOps Pagure so we have them on-hand when we start planning for 2019.
Is there any pending feedback or should I take the second one as final?
