#711 White-on-black grayscale Fedora logo needed for SDDM branding
Opened by ngompa. Modified

phenomenon

SDDM recently added the ability to show the distribution logo on the login screen, and we need a suitable variant of the Fedora logo for this.

reason

As detailed in fedora-kde/SIG#24, SDDM has the ability to show the distribution logo on the login screen, and we want to enable that to add a bit of "Fedora flair".

recommendation

SDDM typically shows colorful backgrounds, so we need a grayscale Fedora logo variant that uses white as the primary color (rather than black) so that it doesn't look bad.

@ngompa Can you get us some screenshots of SDDM so we have some visual context?

@duffy I can't give you fresh screenshots right now, but fedora-kde/SIG#24 has some that you can review.

Perfect, thanks. Reposting here for us designers :) Where does the iceberg background come from and are you looking to keep that are need something for that too?

The iceberg background was a default Plasma Desktop background from upstream. We default to the official Fedora background for SDDM background artwork today.

@duffy Now that we have the new Fedora logo, can we make sure the F35 background looks good with a monochrome white Fedora logo set there?

Also, do we have a monochrome white Fedora logo in fedora-logos for this?
