I am not seeing this offered as an update to F40. Whatever version is included currently with F40 works fine for me doing what is described in the ticket (switching between headset and laptop mic).

This is a rawhide only bug isn't it?So why it is proposed as a blocker for f41?

well, 0.4.90 was submitted to F40 and 0.5.0 is currently pending for it - https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2024-d3a88f9d74 .

Discussed during the 2024-03-18 blocker review meeting [1]:

The affected wireplumber is not stable for F40 yet, and 0.5.0 has come out in the mean time. let's punt on this one and ask the reporter to test with 0.5.0. if 0.5.0 is broken, and it gets pushed stable for F40, then we can make a decision on it...

I didn't see in the ticket what bluetooth device the reporter is using. There are some Bluetooth devices know to have sometimes strange behavior on linux because they're developed and tested only for windows. Here at Brazil whe have a lot of them, imported from china at very low cost.

Just tried with wireplumber 0.5.0-1 and Fedora 40 using my generic Bluetooth headset. Everything worked as expected. This is feeling pretty hardware specific.
