Given that AllWinner is specifically called out as supported, this feels like a blocker (update rendering the system unbootable, violation of the update criteria...?).

My above comment was intended for #1636.
I cannot reproduce this issue on a Pi4. Given the lack of information on what platforms are impacted, I don't see how it can currently be a blocker.
Discussed during the 2024-09-03 blocker review meeting [1]:
There's some ambiguity around the ARM supported hardware list, here, and we would like to see additional testing to see if other SystemReady hardware is affected.
