I agree with the rationale in the ticket. While it's not technically the default application that's not working, its functionality is impaired by the missing thumbnails, and the thumbnailers themselves are crashing due to the sandbox. With all that in play, I'm willing to say this violates the default application criteria.

While missing thumbnails are inconvenient, I don't believe they are the basic functionality of a file manager. That would include file operations and opening files in other apps, not "eye candy".
If this isn't fixed quickly, it should go into Common Issues instead.

Discussed at the 2025-09-15 (blocker / freeze exception) review meeting:
This is accepted as a violation of "The following applications must start successfully and withstand a basic functionality test" for the file manager. It's a close call, but we think thumbnails are sufficiently important that it would create a very bad impression for them to be broken.
