The provided simple test and the linked upstream MR both look sufficient to me.

By the way, newer (2.44.x) gdk-pixbuf2 also fixes gif animations and some memory leaks. (And of course also fixes Simple Scan, but there's another blocker ticket about that one.)

1. It looks like that the linked MR actually got merged before 2.43.5 (not 2.44.0 as I thought).
2. Fedora 43 seems to already have gdk-pixbuf2 2.44.1.

Like Kamil pointed out above, there's indeed not enough information on what blocking apps are affected to say whether it qualifies even for FreezeException. (Adam notes a list of blocking apps here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2388961#c4)
