I don't have an issue with introducing a new package through the freeze:
BetaFE +1

However, I'm not sure about the follow-up PR, where this gets introduced into IoT images by default (which are release-blocking now). That seems way too close to the Beta release, I wonder how safe that is? But that is just my thinking ahead, I assume a different freeze request will be issued for it, so we can discuss in there.
