#6 Consider turning on archiving at freeze time or possibly earlier
Opened by jlebon. Modified

So that e.g. people running Beta won't hit the version mismatch issue.

IRC convo between Dusty and I:

11:22:10 < jlebon> dustymabe: re. https://pagure.io/releng/archive-repo-manager/c/929a8956a5e91a09263191fa94f06fb0044800a6?branch=main, i wonder if we should tracking
releases once they enter freeze instead

11:23:39 < jlebon> once the beta is out, more folks will try to use it and potentially hit issues. but since it's frozen, it shouldn't be that many packages to archive, so
it seems like a natural enablement point
11:43:35 <@dustymabe> jlebon: in theory it would be nice if we started "archiving" earlier
11:44:31 <@dustymabe> right now the archiver is only set up to monitor bodhi messages, though. so it's not as simple as just updating a list
11:45:05 <@dustymabe> prior to fedora major release bodhi isn't used IIUC so we'd have to cue off of something else
11:46:01 < jlebon> yeah, i guess the earlier it is, the noisier/more wasteful it could get
11:46:53 < jlebon> dustymabe: ahh, so no fedmsgs are emitted during freeze when pkgs are let through?
11:47:19 <@dustymabe> jlebon: i think we'd just have to monitor different messages and also different koji tags
11:47:37 <@dustymabe> i guess all i'm trying to say is it would take some work :)
11:47:47 < jlebon> right yup gotcha
11:47:48 <@dustymabe> probably wouldn't be too bad, just don't have time to dig
11:48:11 < jlebon> i hear you :)
11:48:18 < jlebon> i'll file it in an issue for now
11:48:19 <@dustymabe> i think "running the beta as your main system" has become more and more common
11:48:28 <@dustymabe> used to it wasn't that popular
11:48:34 <@dustymabe> so we probably need to adjust
